To the west is Nettesheim . Frixheim and Anstel are north of the B 477 . A little further north, Dormagen- Broich and Dormagen- Gohr follow . The Rommerskirchen train station and the village of Rommerskirchen- Eckum are located southwest of Butzheim .
history
Settlement of the area goes back to the Mesolithic. The Nettesheim-Butzheim area was also settled by the Romans. The village in its present form emerged from a Franconian settlement. This most likely happened in the 6th or 7th century. The place name was first mentioned in a document from 962 as "Budichim". Traces of the Knights of Butzheim can be found in the Middle Ages. A "Godefirdus de Bozheim" was mentioned in a document from 1195.
Until 1794, Butzheim belonged to the Dingstuhl Rommerskirchen in the Hülchrath office in the Electorate of Cologne . After the French invaded in 1794, the area on the left bank of the Rhine became French. In 1798 the French divided the Rhineland into four departments (Rur / Roer, Rhine-Mosel, Saar and Donnersberg). Departments were subdivided into arrondissements / roughly administrative districts, these in turn into cantons / roughly districts and these again into mairies / mayor's offices. The Mairie Nettesheim was established as the lowest administrative unit in this area . This belonged to the canton of Dormagen in the Arrondissement de Cologne in the Département de la Roer . After the withdrawal of the French occupation troops as a result of the collapse of the Napoleonic Empire in 1814, the Catholic Rhineland was awarded to Protestant Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. In 1815 Butzheim came to the municipality of Nettesheim-Butzheim , which belonged to the mayor's office and later to the office of Nettesheim and the district of Neuss.
Between 1847 and 1894, numerous families left their hometown Butzheim and looked for a new home in America. A school was built in Butzheim between 1868 and 1870. In 1871 Butzheim had 769 inhabitants.
On January 1, 1975, the Nettesheim-Butzheim community was dissolved and incorporated into the Rommerskirchen community.
