Karl August Graf von Kospoth (born October 22, 1836 in Briese , Province of Silesia ; † March 21, 1928 ibid) was the fifth entrant and majorate on the Briese family estate.

Life

Kospoth was born as the son of Count August von Kospoth and Charlotte von Necker at Schloss Briese , one of the most beautiful baroque castles in Silesia until 1945 . In the course of his long life, Kospoth held numerous positions. He was district deputy of the Oels district , member of the Prussian mansion for life, curator of the Knight Academy (Liegnitz) and the Johannis pen in Liegnitz as well as Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John . He was an honorary member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg , where he became active in 1858.

Kospoth was married twice: on May 16, 1863, he married Maria Countess von Paumgarten in Munich (born August 17, 1843 in Leopoldskron near Salzburg ; † March 29, 1875 in Kritschen). The sons August (1864–1917), Hans Wolf (1865–1890) and the daughter Gabriele (1875–1924) came from this marriage. His wife died less than three weeks after the daughter was born. Two years later he married Eleonora (Nora) von Klitzing on October 22, 1877 in Stein near Sibyllenort ( Oels district ) (* October 21, 1856 in Kolzig ; † May 6, 1908 in Kamień , Galicia). With the latter he had the daughter Ruth (* March 21, 1880 in Briese; † March 12, 1914 ibid), married to Friedrich Freiherr von Gagern , an Austrian author of hunting, animal and adventure stories. Her brother Friedrich-August (* July 1, 1887 in Briese; † August 24, 1980 in Bad Homburg ) married Margarete Countess von der Schulenburg (* April 15, 1891 in Berlin; † December 15, 1987 in Grafing near Munich ).
