In 1824 Ludwig Caspar von Klitzing became the new owner, the family remained in the village until 1945. They built a new castle and a large landscaped park. The Vorwerk concentrated on sheep and cattle breeding. In the middle of the 18th century a large, nationally known glassworks was built . In 1845, 899 people lived in Kolzig.
