The airport Poznań-Ławica - Henryk Wieniawski ( Polish Port lotniczy Poznań-Ławica im. Henryk Wieniawski , IATA code : POZ , ICAO code : EPPO ) is the airport of the metropolis Poznań (Polish: Poznań), the capital of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It was named after Henryk Wieniawski in 2006 and is now the seventh largest airport in Poland and one of the oldest in the world.
Location and transport links
The airport is located about seven kilometers west of the city center of Poznan, in the area of the Jeżyce district. The eponymous settlement Ławica, immediately south of it, is now part of the Grunwald district.
The DK92 trunk road runs north of the airport site and the S11 expressway runs seven kilometers to the west . The airport is integrated into local public transport by buses from the Poznan public transport company (MPK) . Line 59 connects it to Poznan Central Station via a stop on the airport site . In addition, lines 48, 77 and 729 serve stops south of the airport; lines 48 and 77 run to the city center, while line 729 goes to a station on the Poznan tram . At night, the 242 night bus connects the airport with the city center.
history
The airport was a German military airfield in 1913. On January 6, 1919, Polish insurgents captured the airport with a total of 250 military aircraft .
Since July 11, 1997 Port Lotniczy Poznań-Ławica sp. z oo ( Posen-Ławica Airport Ltd. ) Operator of the airport. The Polish state holds 39% of the shares through the state airport company, 37% is held by the city of Poznan and the remaining 24% is held by the Greater Poland Voivodeship . On February 2, 2001, a new cargo terminal with 1400 m² opened.
On November 4, 2001, a new passenger terminal was opened. An expansion of the terminal was completed in 2013.

The airport has a single runway , which is 2504 meters long, 50 meters wide and has the identifier 10/28.
Passenger terminal
The passenger terminal has a floor area of 23,000 m², has 22 check-in counters and eleven piers . It can handle around 3 million passengers a year.
