Wolfgang Göddertz (born August 16, 1944 in Gustorf ; † July 12, 2016 in Sinnersdorf ) was a German artist . The metal sculptor preferred to work with stainless steel and aluminum and designed numerous sculptures and fountains for public spaces. He lived in Sinnersdorf near Cologne.
Life
After completing an apprenticeship as a blacksmith with Carl Wyland from 1961 to 1963 , he studied sculpture at the Cologne factory schools and the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1963 to 1966 . On February 8, 1963, he took part in the Bonn Stage for Sensual Perception - KONZIL with the exhibition of "PLASTICS". In 1964 he received a scholarship from the Foundation for the Promotion of Talented Students. In 1979 he had a teaching position in Cairo and at the Goethe-Institut Alexandria (Egypt). Since 1979 he has received many public orders for water kinetic fountains and free sculptures, and works are in international collections. In 1980 Göddertz was a guest lecturer at the Cairo Art Academy , and in 1985 a guest lecturer at the Medellin Art Academy (Colombia).
Since 1963 Wolfgang Göddertz has had numerous national and international exhibitions, among others in Cologne, Bonn, Düsseldorf, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Israel, Switzerland, Egypt, Colombia and Italy.
Wolfgang Göddertz received several art prizes.
His “ water kinetic sculpture ” on Ebertplatz in Cologne was named Monument of the Month for July by the Rhenish Association for Monument Preservation and Landscape Protection (RVDL).
He died on July 12, 2016 at the age of 71.
