Nesselsdorf S.

The Nesselsdorf S 4 (16/20 HP) was a successor to the type D car , which the Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau-Fabriks-Gesellschaft brought out in 1906 .

The vehicle had a four-cylinder in-line engine with 3306 cm³ displacement and 20 HP (15 kW) power, which was installed in the front under the bonnet. This new engine was from Hans Ledwinka been developed and continued to have a magneto ignition , but instead of the surface carburetor an updraft carburetor and an overhead , royal shaft driven camshaft. The 1,600 kg car reached a top speed of 80 km / h. There were different four-seater bodies, for example Tourer, Landauer, etc. In 1910 a two-seater sports car with a gasoline tank behind the seats was created.

In 1910 the Nesselsdorf S 4 (20/30 HP) was created with the same technology, but with a 30 HP (22 kW) engine. He gave the car a top speed of 80–90 km / h. In 1912 a two-seater sports car with wire-spoke wheels appeared, from 1914 all models had the fashionable pointed cooler. This type was manufactured until 1916. The Nesselsdorf S 6 (40/50 HP) also appeared in 1910 . His six-cylinder in-line engine was created simply by adding two cylinders to the S 4 engine, had a displacement of 4959 cc and developed an output of 50 hp (37 kW). The four-seater tourers and sedans reached a top speed of 100–110 km / h. The S 6 was the first car to be fitted with four-wheel brakes as standard; these only became generally accepted after 1921. For the first time in the company's history, these cars could also be ordered with electric lighting and a starter.

The successor to the S 4 was the Type T from 1914 , the S 6 was replaced by the Type U at the same time .
