Karel Kroupa (born April 15, 1950 in Brno ) is a former Czech football player and later football manager .

Career

Karel Kroupa played in his youth for the Brno club Sokol Bosnohy, from 1966 for Spartak KPS Brno. Between 1969 and 1971 he did his military service with Dukla Tábor. In 1971 the striker moved to FC Zbrojovka Brno and played there until 1982 and again from 1983 to 1985. In the 1982/83 season he played for TJ Gottwaldov .

Kroupa was appointed to the Czechoslovak national football team for the first time on October 13, 1974 , for which he played a total of 21 games. He scored four goals. The attacker made his last appearance for Czechoslovakia on February 3, 1980. In 1976, Kroupa became European champions with Czechoslovakia , but was not used in the semifinals and the final.

In 1977 Karel Kroupa was Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year, 1977/78 and 1978/79 top scorer in the Czechoslovak League. In 1978 he became Czechoslovakian champion with Zbrojovka Brno.

In the 1st Czechoslovak League Karel Kroupa scored 118 goals and is thus a member of the club of goal scorers, the club ligových kanonýrů .

At the end of his career, the striker played in lower Austrian leagues from 1985 to 1991 .

Manager

From 1991 to March 2005, Kroupa worked as a manager at 1. FC Brno . Then he was manager of 1. FK Drnovice until mid-2006 .
