Zagłębie Wałbrzych (completely Górniczy Klub Sportowy Zagłębie Wałbrzych ) is a Polish football club from the Lower Silesian town of Wałbrzych (German: Waldenburg ).
history
The association founded on December 12, 1945 under the name KS Julia Biały Kamień , which had in the meantime been renamed GKS Thorez Wałbrzych , rose in the summer of 1968, after another renaming on February 22, 1968, as GKS Zagłębie Wałbrzych in the Polish Ekstraklasa on.
By a third place in the 1970/71 season Zagłębie qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup . There the Lower Silesians prevailed in the first round with 1: 0 and 3: 2 against the Czechoslovak representative Union Teplice , but failed in the second round with 1: 1 and 1: 2 against the Romanian team UT Arad .
1974 Zagłębie had to leave the Ekstraklasa as bottom of the table. In the following years, the club rose to the lower divisions at the regional level.
