The 1. HNL 1999/2000 was the ninth season of the highest Croatian football league . The season began on July 24, 1999 and ended on May 13, 2000.
NK Croatia Zagreb was able to successfully defend its title.

The twelve teams competed against each other in three rounds, so that 33 match days had to be completed. The teams that finished in the first six places after 22 games had an additional six home games, the teams in the lower six places had five home games. The last two descended directly.
