The 2. HNL 2000/01 was the tenth season of the second highest Croatian football league .

mode

Eighteen teams played against each other twice, divided into a first half and a second half. Four teams went straight to the 1st HNL 2001/02 . In addition, another club was able to qualify for the first division via the play-off. The bottom of the table had to be relegated against relegation.
