The 2. HNL 1992 was the first season of the second highest Croatian football league after the break- away of the Croatian Football Association from the Yugoslav Football Association.

mode

The league was divided into the four seasons North, West, East and South, with no games being played in the East season because of the Croatian War. A total of 18 teams started in the other three seasons. There were two points for every win and one point for a tie. The direct comparison decided the order of placement in the event of a tie. The champions of each season played an overall winner in the "championship round".

    Championship round

    The three champions of the North, West and South squadrons played the overall winner of the 2nd HNL in 1992.

    Semifinals

    The master of the season west (Pazinka Pazin) played in the return match against the master of the season south (Primorac Stobreč). The master of the north relay (Radnik Velika Gorica) had a bye because no master was determined in the east.
