Soccer in Croatia 1992
The 1992 season in Croatian football was the first since the separation from the Yugoslav Football Association and the re-establishment of the Croatian Football Association .
Twelve clubs were approved for the newly founded Croatian first league (Croatian Prva Hrvatska Nogometna Liga , short 1. HNL ), for the second league (Croatian Druga Hrvatska Nogometna Liga , short 2. HNL ) three relays with a total of 18 teams were provided .

The twelve clubs eligible to start were determined according to the final tables for the 1990/91 season in Yugoslavia . NK Istra Pula was transferred to the first division by decree by the Croatian Football Association , although other Croatian clubs were better placed in the 1990/91 season.

Hajduk Split won the championship, no club qualified for the European Cup, as UEFA had no starting places for Croatian clubs for 1992/93. There were no relegated teams, the league played with 16 clubs in the following season. The top scorer was Adrian Kozniku with 12 goals.

Second division
The second division was divided into four seasons in its premier season, with no championship being played in the East season because of the Croatian War.

The promotion to the first division succeeded Radnik Velika Gorica and Pazinka Pazin. In addition, Segesta Sisak and the NK Belišće - this as a representative of the East relay - were transferred to the first division.

Cup competition
Participants in the first cup competition were those clubs that had qualified for the Yugoslav Cup competition 1991/92.
Cup winner was Inker Zaprešic in two finals against HAŠK Građanski Zagreb.

Supercup
On July 18, 1992, the Croatian champion Hajduk Split won the Supercup (Croatian Superkup ) 3-1 (0-0, 0-0) on penalties against cup winner Inker Zaprešic.
European Cups
Hajduk Split took part as the Yugoslav Cup winner in 1991 in the European Cup Winners' Cup 1991/92 and was eliminated in the first round against Tottenham Hotspur . HAŠK Gradanski Zagreb also failed in the first round of the 1991/92 UEFA Cup to Trabzonspor .
Due to the Croatian War , the two home games of the Croatian clubs were played in Austria .
National team
After the Croatian Football Association broke away from the Yugoslav Football Association, they organized three friendly matches against the USA , Romania and Slovenia , all of which were won.
The first game after independence took place on October 17, 1990 in Zagreb. In the 2-0 win against the USA Aljoša Asanović scored the first goal for the Croatian national soccer team .
On July 3, 1992, the Croatian Football Association became a member of FIFA .
Remarks
Dinamo Zagreb called itself HAŠK Građanski Zagreb this season and was later renamed Croatia Zagreb .
