NK Karlovac is a Croatian football club from the city of Karlovac .

history

NK Karlovac was founded in autumn 1919 by construction workers under the name Sportski Klub Borac . Just a year later, the club was renamed ŠK Karlovac and, after further renaming, finally in 1954 to NK Karlovac. It was not until 1938 that a stadium of its own was built on Senjer Strasse, which remained the club's home until 1975. In the former Yugoslavia , the 1972/73 season was the most successful when the NK Karlovac took third place in the second division and thus rose to the fourth strongest Croatian club. After relegation from the second Yugoslav league in 1977, the return to the second division was only possible with the establishment of the 2. HNL . After a few seasons in the third division, the promotion to the second division in 2005 (relegation in the following year) and 2008 in 2009 was the first to become a member of the first division. After the 2011/12 season , however, relegation followed, this time even to the 3rd HNL, as no license was obtained for the top two leagues.

Stadion

The stadium was built in 1975 and is called Branko Čavlović-Čavlek . It is owned by the city and seats 12,000. Due to the desolate condition, a renovation will take place in 2009, the financing of which is proving to be very difficult.
