Julien Rodriguez (born June 11, 1978 in Béziers ) is a former French soccer player who last played for Olympique Marseille . He ended his career at the end of 2011.

Career

society

Julien Rodriguez was trained by the southern French club FC Istres , but made his professional debut in January 1999 at AS Monaco . In 2000 he was with the club from the Principality of French champions, but he never got out of the role of the supplementary player. It was only when his rival Rafael Márquez moved to FC Barcelona in 2003 that Rodriguez again played a central role in Didier Deschamps' team . Then he surprisingly reached the final of the 2004 Champions League with AS Monaco , which FC Porto won 3-0. However, the following season was not so successful for Rodriguez. Therefore, he moved to the Scottish Premier League for the Glasgow Rangers , where he immediately earned a regular place. During his second season with the Rangers, however, he fell out with the then coach Paul Le Guen . His contract was canceled and he returned to the Côte d'Azur to the traditional club Olympique Marseille.

National team

Due to good performance at Olympique Marseille, he was appointed to the squad of the French national team on February 4, 2007 for the only time . However, it has not been used and is still awaiting its debut.
