The Club Sportif Sedan Ardennes is a French football club from the northeastern town of Sedan in the Ardennes department , near the border with Belgium .
history
The club was founded in 1919 as Union Athlétique Sedan-Torcy . In 1953 he was promoted to the professional field for the first time (at that time in Division 2 ), followed by the best time of the Ardennais until the mid-1960s, which was also crowned by countable successes, especially in the national cup.
In 1966 Sedan merged with the Racing Club de Paris and was called RC Paris-Sedan (there are around 250 km between the two cities!) Until it adopted its current name in 1970 (apart from a brief, merger-related interlude as CS Sedan-Mouzon Ardennes in the mid-1970s Years).
First class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ) played the club 1955-1971, 1999-2003 and 2006/07. International Sedan qualified for participation in the 2001/02 UEFA Cup , but was eliminated in the first round. After the forced relegation from the second to the fifth division (CFA2) in 2013 for financial reasons , Sedan played in the fourth-class Championnat de France Amateur in the 2014/15 season and then rose to the third-class National (D3) .
Club and players are affectionately referred to by fans and the media as “The Wild Boars” (French: Les Sangliers ) into the 21st century , and since 1956 spectators from the wooded region for the cup final have been accompanied by a full-grown brook called “Dudule” to the Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir . This was repeated in the 1961 finals; however, this time the mascot was called "Dora".
