The Stade Jules Deschaseaux is a football stadium in Le Havre in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region ( France ).
history
The old Stade Municipal du Havre opened in 1932. In 1954 it was named after a councilor from Le Havre, Jules Deschaseaux (1872-1957). In 1971, Le Havre AC moved from its Stade de la Cavée Verte to the Jules Deschaseaux . Its maximum capacity was 22,000 spectators. In the mid-1990s it was converted into a seating stadium. The four grandstands are completely covered and now offer space for 16,387 people. The attendance record with 19,285 spectators was established on August 16, 1996 in the game Le Havre AC against Olympique Marseille .
future
In 2004, the first plans for a new stadium began. The old venue cannot be expanded due to lack of space. There is a lack of space for additional parking spaces; the lack of comfort and general decay made the decision. On September 9th, 2009, Le Havres Mayor Antoine Rufenacht and Luc Delamain, architect from the VINCI Group / SCAU / KSS / IOSIS, presented the plans for the new stadium. The new arena will be built in the immediate vicinity of the Stade Jules Deschaseaux. It will have 25,000 seats (football). In addition to football and rugby , concerts and other events will also take place there. Thanks to a photovoltaic system with 1,500 m², the new stadium will produce more electricity than it consumes itself, making it the first stadium of its kind in France. The total costs were estimated at € 80 million . Of these, the principal bears Gemeindeverband Le Havre (CODAH) € 44.5 million, the Regional Council of the former Upper Normandy € 25 million, the Council of the departments of Seine-Maritime € 10 million and the state € 500,000.
In July 2010, work began on the football arena called Stade Océane . The opening of the sports and event facility with 25,178 seats was celebrated on July 12, 2012. On August 15, 2012, the official opening of the international soccer match between France and Uruguay (0-0) took place.
