Ligue 1 / record player
This list names the football players with at least 500 appearances in the professional French Ligue 1 (called Division 1 until 2002) since the 1945/46 season. No complete statistics exist in France for the period from 1932 to 1939, and the missing seasons from 1939 to 1945 are not considered official championship competitions . In addition, the currently active players and the foreigners with the most Ligue 1 appearances are named.

Footballers who are still active in the current season are shown in bold; the update of their number of operations will only take place after the end of the season.
statistics
The total of 11,334 first division games of these 21 members of the "500 Club" were played at 26 clubs, of which 2,868 games (by 7 players) at FC Nantes and 1,138 games (by 4 players) at the Girondins Bordeaux. Paris Saint-Germain (1,075 / 6), Stade Reims (803/2), AS Monaco (670/2), FC Metz (620/2), Racing Strasbourg (511/4) and OSC Lille (460 / 3).
Six players even reached or jumped the 500 mark at a single club, namely Ettori (602 for Monaco), Michel, Bertrand-Demanes (532 each for Nantes), Giresse (519 for Bordeaux), Amisse (503 for Nantes) and Jonquet (502 for Reims).
On average, it took a player on this list a good 17 years to reach their total number of games. If the time since 1945 is broken down into long sections, the end of the career is clearly concentrated in the period 1979–1996 (15 of the 20 players); thereafter only Sylvain Kastendeuch, Mickaël Landreau and - each exclusively with assignments in the 21st century - Sylvain Armand and the still active Florent Balmont have managed to reach the "five hundred mark". Responsible for this is the 1995 Bosman ruling, with its consequence of increased emigration of French players to other European leagues, although the country's top division is still today characterized by a comparatively high level of "loyalty to the club" .
Theoretically, it would be possible that players who started their career in Division 1 before 1945 could have played 500 games. However, there are no six years (from 1939/40 to 1944/45) in which the championship games that have taken place are not officially counted. So if a then 18-year-old started in 1932, for example, because of this interruption, he would have had to play almost all championship games until 1939 and from 1945 to 1955 and would then have been 41 years old - not impossible, but also a very rare case in France.

The fact that predictions based on previous number of stakes, age and playing position as to whether one of these will still make the leap into the “Club of 500” are pointless can be shown using the example of Grégory Coupet : he missed due to an injury Goalkeeper, who by then had already recorded 417 first division games, almost played the entire first half of the season in 2007/08, so that he only made 19 of 38 games this season. In 2008 he moved abroad, returned to France in 2009 and ended his career in 2011 after 467 first division appearances. In the meantime Coupet had been overtaken by Mickaël Landreau, who came to his 500th Ligue 1 game on February 13, 2011.
