Souleymane Diawara (born December 24, 1978 in Dakar ) is a former Senegalese football player with a French passport , who was most recently under contract with OGC Nice .

Career

society

The defensive all-rounder, who was brought into the first team from the Le Havre AC youth team in 1998 , moved on to FC Sochaux in 2003 . In the 2006/07 season, the Senegalese played at Charlton Athletic . According to the Charlton Athletic website, the transfer was around € 5.5 million. After just one year, he moved to the French Ligue 1 representative Girondins Bordeaux in August 2007 for around € 3.9 million . In his first year there he was able to celebrate the runner-up championship, in the second year the championship. He then moved to Olympique Marseille . He immediately won the French national championship with his club and was one of the pillars of the team. In 2015 Diawara ended his career as a professional footballer.

On November 19, 2002 Diawara made his debut in the Senegalese national team in a match in Johannesburg against South Africa .

Diawara's older brother Djibril was also successful as a professional football player in France.
