Club career

The 173 centimeter tall striker Rambert, who preferred to play in the position of the left winger, was included in the squad of the Argentine first division club CA Lanús for the 1958 season . At this club, which is located in the lower midfield of the league, he was able to establish himself quickly and aroused the interest of several European talent scouts. Ultimately, it was the French first division club Olympique Lyon who signed him in 1960. There he met Nestor Combin , who had been signed up the year before and who had also come from Argentina. In the top French league, he made it to the first team at a time when substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible. Thanks to his technical strength, he was on the offensive at the side of Fleury Di Nallo to a high performer, where he had to start the relegation battle with the team. Despite the moderate team performance, Rambert made his debut in European competition in 1961, as Lyon was automatically qualified for the Exhibition City Cup. His first two years in France were his best in terms of goalscoring, as he scored ten goals this season and then always fell short of that mark.

From 1962, the team increased significantly, rose to the circle of the top teams in the league and was also successful in the cup when they made it to the national cup final in 1963 . A 0-0 replay was necessary, in which AS Monaco were defeated 0-2. Just one year later, the 1964 final offered a second chance for the title and a 2-0 win against Girondins Bordeaux allowed Rambert to win it for the first time. Also in 1964, the team made it to the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup , where it failed in the replay against eventual winner Sporting Lisbon .

After his teammate Nestor Combin had left the club in 1964, Rambert could no longer build on his previous performances and also saw Lyons slip back into the lower table areas. Nevertheless, he managed one last major success when he reached the 1967 cup final with the team and won the trophy for the second time by beating FC Sochaux 3-1 . He was successful as a goalscorer for the first time in his third participation in the final with the 1-0 in the 22nd minute. At over 30, he remained an integral part of the team in the years that followed, even after Serge Chiesa, his designated successor, had moved up into the team in 1969 . In 1970 he turned his back on the club after ten years and signed with the second division AS Avignon . He was one of the regular players in a team that just missed promotion to the elite class of French football in 1971. In the same year he ended his professional career at the age of 35 after 316 first division games with 56 goals and 30 second division games with seven goals in France and 36 first division games with eleven goals in Argentina. He then went back to Argentina, where in 1974 his son, who would later become Argentina international player Sebastián Rambert , was born. He died in 1983 at the age of 47 and was honored in an obituary in the Le Progrès newspaper as the bearer of "immortal memories".
