Wenyi Wang

Wang Wenyi ( Chinese  王文怡 , Pinyin Wáng Wényí , born October 26, 1959 in Changchun, Jilin Province ) is a pathologist and journalist for the Epoch Times newspaper, which is affiliated with Falun Gong . Wang Wenyi is a Chinese national who lived in the United States for 20 years . Wang Wenyi trained as a doctor in China , received a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Chicago, and was admitted as a pathologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 2006 .

On April 20, 2006, she received a valid journalist's ID for visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao in the United States. This gave her access to a ceremony during which Hu Jintao gave a speech. She interrupted him with heckling for 45 seconds.

Their calls in Chinese and English were also directed to George W. Bush . For example, she shouted, “President Bush, stop him killing!” And “President Bush, stop him persecuting Falun Gong!” The Chinese audience in China will not see these images on state-run television . According to the AFP news agency , CNN TV said the Chinese authorities had blocked the broadcast of its images of the protest in China.

According to CNN, Wang is a "naturalized US citizen who works as a journalist for the 'Epoch'". That she is a US citizen was confirmed in a CNN interview with her.

She has several roles, according to older newspaper articles: permanent resident in the US according to an article from May 2005, vice-president of "Epoch" according to an article from September 2005, medical expert according to an article from April 2006:

"Wang helped write 'organ harvesting' articles for The Epoch's latest, and was 'very busy,'" said Epoch spokesman Terry Wu. "When she saw Bush shake hands with the Chinese leader, she felt obliged to speak out."

Wang Wenyi protested the persecution of people who practice Falun Gong in China. Since July 1999, when the Chinese government made the practice of Falun Gong illegal, "hundreds of thousands of practicing Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally detained in labor camps because they refused to renounce their belief." Wang Wenyi said, " They are routinely beaten, tortured, raped and injected with psychiatric drugs. And recently it was revealed that there are 36 concentration camps in China that are 'harvesting' organs from thousands of living Falun Gong practitioners. "

On April 21, a federal court charged Wang Wenyi with the offense of intimidating, coercing, threatening, and cursing a foreign public official. After spending one night in jail, she was formally charged with "deliberately and deliberately intimidating, coercing, threatening, or verbally abusing a foreign official while performing his duties," an offense that resulted in up to six months in prison and one Fine of US $ 5,000 can be punished.

Wang then read a prepared statement to some reporters: “What I did was just say a few words in a moment of history. It was an act of conscience and an act of civil disobedience. "-" I have tried to stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China for a long time, particularly the 'harvesting' of organs, "she said. She was unable to work in China because she was refused entry when her father, who lived in China, died in 2005. She was released without bail, pending further proceedings. She was charged with disturbing the peace.

"The Epoch" is known for using such language to describe Chinese government officials, and it called for the overthrow of the Chinese communist government through its Resign from CCP campaign . ("Resign from CCP" stands for "Resign from the Chinese Communist Party (= CCP, Chinese communist party)!")

But Wang's defense attorney, John Bos, pointed out that "a cameraman ripped the banner from her hands and tried to immobilize her by pressing his hands to her mouth before the bodyguard escorted Wang from the media podium." that that - rather than the shouts of Wang - could have been the reason why Hu paused with his remarks.

In 2001, she broke a security line in Malta during a visit by former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and got into an argument with him.
