Stéphane Sessègnon (born June 1, 1984 in Allahe , Benin ) is a Beninese football player . The right midfielder was first active in 2004 in the Benin national team . He is a grandson of the former Beninese President Nicéphore Dieudonné Soglo .

Sessègnon joined the French club US Créteil from Requins de l'Atlantique FC in Benin in 2004 and played 68 games in the second division for the club in two years . In 2006 he moved to the first division UC Le Mans . There he was able to fight for a regular place after brief teething problems and completed 31 league games for the club in the 2006/07 season.

From the summer of 2008 he played for three years for the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain .

In January 2011, he was then signed for seven million euros by AFC Sunderland .

After further stints at West Bromwich Albion and HSC Montpellier , Sessègnon signed another contract with the Turkish club Gençlerbirliği until 2019 at the age of 33 .

For the national team of Benin Sessègnon completed at least 16 senior internationals. He was part of the Ecureuils squad at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana.
