Pierre-Yves Polomat (born December 27, 1993 in Fort-de-France , Martinique ) is a French football player .

Club career

The Polomat, who is primarily used as a left-back, was six years old when he started playing football in his home country on the French Caribbean island of Martinique in September 2000. He kicked for local clubs until he was accepted into the training center of the first division club Olympique Marseille in metropolitan France in 2008 at the age of 14 . Even if he performed well, he was excluded in the summer of 2010 for non-sporting reasons and had to leave the club. The league rival AS Saint-Étienne then offered him a trial training and signed the youth a little later for his own training center. In the following time, the player, who until then was still used occasionally in midfield, finally found the left side of defense as his traditional position.

In March 2011, the then 17-year-old made the leap into the second team and on March 19, he played his first encounter in the fourth division against Sporting Toulon . At the same time he was still on the pitch for the youth team and reached the final of the Coupe Gambardella with this in 2011 . In the course of the 2011/12 season he not only fought for a permanent place in the circle of the second team, but was also allowed to train a few times with the professionals. He had his first appearance in their team in October 2011 when he took part in two friendly matches. With the A-Juniors he failed at the end of the season for the second time in a row in the final of the Coupe Gambardella. On July 1, 2013 he was officially promoted to the first division squad, but waited in vain for his first division debut for six months. In January 2014 he was awarded to the second division club LB Châteauroux . For this he made his professional debut when he was on the field from the beginning on February 7, 2014 in a 4-1 win in the second division game against CA Bastia . However, the breakthrough did not succeed afterwards and he was only called up sporadically.

After returning to Saint-Étienne in the summer of 2014, it was awarded again a few weeks later. At the Stade Laval , which is also second-rate, he received more match practice than before in Châteauroux, but without being able to take a regular place.

In summer 2019, he moved to the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara .

National team

During his time as a youth player with Marseille, he was pre-nominated for the French U-16s, but ultimately never called up. He made his debut in the national jersey for the U-20s of his country, for whom he played on July 6, 2013 in a 4-0 win against Uzbekistan in the U-20 World Cup in 2013 . He played his second tournament appearance on July 13th in the final against Uruguay and won the title thanks to a 4-1 on penalties at the end of a goalless game with his team. However, he did not come to any further assignments for youth national teams.
