The Greek men's national handball team represents Greece in international tournaments in Men Handball .

World Championship

At the handball world championship in Portugal in 2005 , the team finished sixth when they participated in a world championship for the first time. Greece could not qualify for the handball world championship 2007 in Germany . In qualification, the team failed in the play-offs to Poland . After a clear 27:22 in the first leg, they had to admit defeat in the second leg in Breslau with 20:29 and thus only narrowly missed the second World Cup participation. Also in the play-offs for the 2009 World Cup in Croatia they failed despite a 32:31 return leg success against Spain because of the 24:32 defeat in the first leg. In qualifying for the 2011 World Cup in Sweden, they lost again in the play-offs, this time clearly to the German team .

In the 2015 World Cup qualification, the Greek selection prevailed in a balanced group against Israel , Belgium and the Netherlands and thus qualified for the play-offs in June 2014, in which they were defeated by Macedonia.

European Championship

So far, the team has not been able to qualify for a European Championship. In the play-offs for the 2016 European Championship finals, the team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in both games in early April 2014 .

Olympic games

Greece was automatically selected to host the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. After two wins in the preliminary round, they failed in the quarter-finals on eventual winners Croatia and came in sixth.
