Dimitrios Tzimourtos ( Greek Δημήτρης Τζιμούρτος , born February 10, 1981 in Veria / Greece ) is a Greek handball player . He is 1.76 m tall.

Tzimourtos, who last played for the German club Eintracht Hildesheim and ran for the Greek men's national handball team, is mostly used in the right wing .

Career

Dimitrios Tzimourtos started playing handball at Filippos Verias in his hometown. There he also made his debut in the Greek first division. In 1999, 2001 and 2003 he won the Greek championship with Verias and the Greek Cup in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2007; 2003 and moved into the final of the EHF Challenge Cup , where he was defeated by the Danish club Skjern Håndbold . Tzimourtos was voted the best right winger in the Greek league in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he was looking for a new challenge and moved to Eintracht Hildesheim in the German 2nd handball Bundesliga . There he advanced to one of the best right wingers in the league with 142 goals, so that he also came into the focus of first division clubs; In the summer of 2008 Tzimourtos canceled his contract with the cathedral townspeople and switched to MT Melsungen . After more than two years with the Bundesliga team, his contract was terminated at his own request in September 2010 and then he signed a contract with Eintracht Hildesheim again, for which he played until 2015.

Dimitrios Tzimourtos has played over 72 international matches for the Greek national handball team. With his country he finished sixth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and at the 2005 men's handball world championship in Portugal. For the men's handball world championship 2007 in Germany, he could not qualify with his country.
