The Portuguese men's national handball team represents Portugal in international tournaments in men's handball .

The team has taken part in handball world championships three times so far , the best placement they achieved with 12th place at the 2003 World Cup in their own country. The greatest success at five European Championships so far was achieved with 6th place in 2020 .

At the 2020 European Championship , Portugal surprised with a preliminary round win against France , which was then eliminated, and finished second in the group after a defeat against Norway. In the main round there was a 10-goal win against Sweden and an eight-goal win against Hungary, as well as defeats against Slovenia and Iceland. In the game for 5th place they lost to Germany with 27:29, but achieved a starting place for the qualifying tournament for the 2020 Olympic Games.
