Grigorios Sanikis ( Greek Γρηγόριος Σανίκης ; born January 29, 1980 in Veria , Greece ) is a Greek handball player .

Career

The 1.89 m tall backcourt player began playing handball at Filippos Verias in his hometown. There he also made his debut in the Greek first division and won the Greek championship in 2003. In 2004 he moved abroad to SG Kronau-Östringen in the second German league . With Kronau he rose to the 1st handball league in 2005  , but joined the other promoted MT Melsungen . In the summer of 2013, Sanikis returned to Greece, where he signed a contract with AEK Athens . In 2014 he won the Greek Cup.

Grigorios Sanikis played 106 international matches for the Greek national handball team. At the World Cup in Portugal in 2005 he finished sixth with Greece; for the 2007 World Cup in Germany he could not qualify with his country.
