The 3rd women's handball world championship was held from November 7th to 13th, 1965 in the Federal Republic of Germany . A total of eight teams initially competed against each other in a preliminary round in two groups. This was followed by the placement games. In front of 5000 spectators, Hungary won the title with a 5-3 win over Yugoslavia and became world champions for the first time.
