The 11th European Women's Handball Championship was held from December 7 to 21, 2014 in Hungary and Croatia . The organizer was the European Handball Federation (EHF). The Norwegian team became European champions. The winner qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics .
Host
Since the original applicants Slovenia and Turkey had withdrawn their applications, the EHF decided at its congress in Copenhagen in 2010 to re-announce the European Championship. When the deadline for submitting a letter of intent expired in October 2010, six national handball associations had expressed their interest in hosting the European Championship at the EHF: Iceland , Croatia , Sweden , Slovakia , Turkey and Hungary . At the end of the application period in January 2011, Turkey, Slovakia and, in a joint application, Croatia and Hungary submitted their offers. On April 9, 2011, the EHF decided to hand over the hosting of the European Championship to the handball associations of Croatia and Hungary.
