Estavana Polman (born August 5, 1992 in Arnhem ) is a Dutch handball player .
Career
Estavana Polman played in the Netherlands for AAC Arnhem and VOC Amsterdam, with whom she took part in the EHF Cup in the 2010/11 season . Then the 1.74 meter tall back player moved to the then Danish second division club Sønderjysk Elitesport . With SønderjyskE she rose to the highest Danish league after her first season. In addition, she was named the best player in the 2011/12 second division season. She has been under contract with Team Esbjerg since summer 2013. In 2016 she won the Danish championship. As of December 2016, she was on pause due to her pregnancy . After giving birth to a daughter in June 2017, she returned to the Esbjerg squad for the 2017/18 season. She then won the Danish Cup in December 2017. She also won the Danish championship in 2019 and 2020. In July 2020, Polman tore a cruciate ligament while training .
Polman has so far played 134 international appearances for the Dutch national team , in which they scored 488 goals. She participated in the 2011 and 2013 World Championships . She also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . She won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championships as well as the bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships and the 2018 European Championships . At the 2019 World Cup , she won the World Cup title in the final against the Spanish selection. Polman was also elected to the All-Star Team and was awarded the MVP title.
Private
Polman's twin brother Dario also plays handball. At the end of March 2016 it was publicly announced that she was in a relationship with the Dutch footballer Rafael van der Vaart . In 2017 their daughter was born.
