Saskia Lang (born December 19, 1986 in Lörrach ) is a German - Swiss handball player .

Career

Handball began for a long time at the German club TV Grenzach. She also played in the regional national team, where she was recommended to join a larger club. Because she lived near the border at the time, she moved to the Swiss club ATV Basel . In 2003 she joined LC Brühl Handball St. Gallen , where she initially played in the 2nd team and was only later able to recommend herself for the first division team. With Brühl she won three championships and five cup wins. In 2009 the 1.79 meter tall left back player moved to the German Bundesliga club HSG Blomberg-Lippe . From the summer of 2011 she was under contract with HC Leipzig . In the summer of 2017 she switched to Thuringian HC . With the Thuringian HC she won the German championship in 2018. She has been playing for SV Union Halle-Neustadt since the 2019/20 season .

Saskia Lang played 25 international matches for the Swiss junior team. She is now a member of the German national team . She played her first game for the national team on November 27, 2010 in Bad Wildungen against Austria. She scored 91 goals in 76 international matches . After Kerstin Wohlbold was seriously injured in a preparatory game shortly before the 2013 World Cup , Lang moved to the German World Cup squad. She scored three goals in seven games.

In June 2017 it was announced that a doping test from April 25, 2017 was positive. A small amount of higenamine, which is on the WADA prohibited list , was detected in a blood and urine sample . In October 2017, Lang was therefore banned from competitions and training by the Anti-Doping Commission of the German Handball Federation for one month, starting with the suspension on June 9, 2017.
