Abstinent gymnastics club Basel
The Abstinenten Turnverein Basel (ATV) was founded on July 12, 1905 in Basel . The founders came mainly from the IOGT group . The first general assembly took place on February 4, 1906. Hans Lehmann-Stauffer was president (July 12, 1905 - April 3, 1910).
history
- In 1923 the ATV founded the first handball section in Switzerland.
- In 1924 the first federal game day took place. Field handball was played on a soccer field.
- In 1927 the first Swiss handball championship took place, which the ATV won.
- 1932 1st division champion
- 1935 1st division champion
- 1936 1st division champion
- In 1936 the Swiss team won bronze at the Olympic Games in Berlin, in which some ATV players were involved.
- In 1971 an application to abolish the promise of abstinence was rejected by the general meeting. This led to the split. A new gymnastics club, the TV Favel (favel = goodbye) was founded.
- In 1994 the ranks of the ATV (women & men) were merged. First of all, a woman became president.
- In 2008 the gymnastics of all ranks was stopped.
- In 2017 the ATV still comprised 40 passive members.
Club hut
The club hut of the abstinent gymnastics club Basel ATV has been on the Montoz in the Jura since 1934 .
The club hut has not been in possession of the ATV since 2014.
It's now privately owned.
