Darja Evgenjewna Dmitrijewa ( Russian Дарья Евгеньевна Дмитриева , English Daria Dmitrieva ; born August 9, 1995 in Tolyatti ) is a Russian handball player .

Career

Darja Dmitrijewa grew up with a younger brother in a sporty family; her father was a professional ice hockey player. At the age of 7 she started playing handball in her hometown at GK Lada Tolyatti . When her then youth coach left Tolyatti in 2009, she moved to Volgograd. Here the back court player ran for GK Dynamo Volgograd , where she was later used in the highest Russian league. GK Dynamo Volgograd won the Russian championship in 2013 and 2014 and was in the 2014/15 season in the Final Four of the EHF Champions League. In the summer of 2015 Dmitrijewa went back to the GK Lada Tolyatti. Four seasons later, she joined the Russian first division club PGK CSKA Moscow . In August 2019, Dmitrieva tore his Achilles tendon in a training game .

Dmitrijewa won the U-17 European Championship with Russia in 2011 . She won the silver medal at the U-18 women's handball world championship in 2012 and scored 28 goals for the Russian team. The Russian played for the Russian youth national team, with which she won the U-19 European Championship in 2013 . In addition, Dmitrijewa was elected to the all-star team of the tournament. At the U20 World Cup in 2014 , she won the silver medal and was re-elected to the Allstar team. In the same year she took part in the European Championship with the Russian national team. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2017 she was part of the Russian national women's handball team at the World Cup . She won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships .

Darja Dmitrijewa is married. She graduated from the Volgograd State University of Architecture and Construction in 2016.
