Alexandrina Cabral Barbosa (born May 5, 1986 in Lisbon ) is a Spanish handball player of Portuguese origin.
Career
Alexandrina Cabral Barbosa played with the Portuguese club Madeira Andebol SAD until 2005, then with Astroc Sagunto in Spain until 2008 . She then moved to the Romanian club CS Rulmentul-Urban Brașov. After two years, the 1.75 meter tall backcourt player returned to Spain, where she won the championship and the cup with Itxako Reyno De Navarra in 2011 and 2012. In the 2012/13 season she played in Romania at CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea , with whom she became Romanian champion in 2013. After Vâlcea filed for bankruptcy, she moved to the German Bundesliga for Thuringian HC in July 2013 , where she signed a one-year contract. With the THC she won the German championship in 2014. From the summer of 2014 she ran for the French first division club CJF Fleury Loiret Handball . With Fleury Loiret, she won the French championship in 2015. For the 2016/17 season she moved to the Russian first division club GK Rostov-on-Don . With Rostov she won the EHF Cup in 2017 and the Russian championship in 2017 and 2018. In summer 2018 she joined the French club Nantes Loire Atlantique Handball . In summer 2020 she moved to the Romanian first division club CSM Bucharest .
Cabral Barbosa played every season with her club in the EHF Champions League from 2003 to 2014 , her greatest success so far being the finals in the 2010/11 season .
She was part of the Portuguese national team until 2009 . She took Spanish citizenship in 2012 and has been running for Spain ever since . In 2014 she won the silver medal at the European Championships. She took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the 2019 World Cup , she won the silver medal with the Spanish selection. Cabral Barbosa continued to be elected to the All-Star team.
