The Audi Arena ( Hungarian: Audi Aréna) is a multi-purpose arena in Győr , Hungary . It is named after the car company Audi AG , which will partly bear the running costs and which will give the hall its name for ten years. The arena holds 5,500 spectators and is the new home ground of the Hungarian handball club Győri ETO KC . It will host the 2014 European Women's Handball Championship and the 2017 European Youth Olympics .
The property was acquired on January 8, 2014, and the foundation stone of the arena was laid on January 30, 2014. After preliminary work, construction of the arena began in May 2014. The construction work was to be completed on October 30, 2014. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the incumbent mayor Zsolt Borkai opened the arena , which cost 4.3 billion forints, on November 15, 2014 .
The arena can be divided into three parts and is connected to the already existing Magvassy Mihály sports hall, which was also renovated during the construction work and the color of the arena was adapted. The facade cladding of the arena is made of mesh, a wire mesh , and can be illuminated.
