Davor Dominiković (born April 7, 1978 in Metković , Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian handball player .
Career
Dominiković played from 2002 to 2004 for the Bundesliga clubs THW Kiel and SG Kronau / Östringen . In summer 2004 he moved to the Spanish second division team Algeciras BM , where he was lured away by FC Barcelona in November 2004 . In 2006 he moved to Portland San Antonio , where he had a contract until 2010. Then the left back player signed a contract with French first division club Paris HB . After just one season in Paris, he joined league rivals US Ivry HB . In the summer of 2013 he canceled his contract with Ivry and signed a contract with HSV Hamburg , where he was used almost exclusively in defense. In November 2015 he moved to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten . In the summer of 2017 Dominiković ended his career and took over the position of assistant coach of the Croatian first division club RK Dubrava . From the 2018/19 season he trained the league competitor MRK Sesvete . Also in 2018 he took over the coaching position of the Croatian U21 national team. After MRK Sesvete got off to a bad start into the 2019/20 season, Dominiković resigned from his coaching position in November 2019. For the 2020/21 season he took over the German third division club TuS Vinnhorst .
With the Croatian national team , he won the 2003 World Cup in Portugal and a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . He has scored 205 goals in a total of 174 international matches.
Shortly before the 2007 World Cup , Dominiković was suspected of doping because his A sample gave a positive result. However, a short time later it turned out that the Spanish laboratory had mixed up the samples, which proved his innocence. In 2014 the Spanish Supreme Court awarded him 150,000 euros in damages.
