National team career

In Croatia he was one of the most important players. Due to the fact that he was used both in attack and in defense, he was one of the in principle irreplaceable or hardly replaceable players in the Croatian national team. Until the 2005 World Cup in Tunisia, he was the only player who could take this position for Croatia, as he was the only left-hander next to Mirza Džomba , who plays on the right winger . Since that tournament he can be replaced by Denis Buntić . In the last five tournaments he always made it to at least the semi-finals with Croatia. In 2003 in Portugal (World Cup) and 2004 in Athens (Olympia) he even won the gold medal with the team.
