Bror Mikael Tobias Karlsson (born June 4, 1981 in Karlskrona ), called Tobbe , is a former Swedish handball player . He played at SG Flensburg-Handewitt on the left back position and on the circle . He was a Swedish international .

Career

After Karlsson had played for Hästö IF and Stavanger Håndball , he moved to Hammarby IF in 2003 . When THW Kiel had acute injury problems in his position in the 2006/07 season, he was loaned out on November 14, 2006 by lightning transfer. He was originally supposed to stay here until the end of the season. As the personnel situation at THW gradually relaxed, Hammarby had injury problems, so that Karlsson returned to Hammarby on December 27, 2006 early. In the summer of 2008, Karlsson moved to HSG Nordhorn , where he took on the role of Daniel Kubeš in defense . From the 2009/10 season Karlsson played for SG Flensburg-Handewitt, with whom he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2012 , the Champions League in 2014 and the German championship in 2018 and 2019. He ended his career after the 2018/19 season.

For the Swedish national team, Karlsson played 180 games in which he scored 81 goals. He took part with the national team at the European handball championships in 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 , the 2011 handball world championship and the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he won the silver medal. He also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He was named Best Cover Player at the 2014 European Championship .

Karlsson took over the position of team manager for the Swedish national team after the 2020 European Championship .

Sociopolitical engagement

Karlsson is committed to combating discrimination against homosexual people by taking a stand against homophobia by wearing a rainbow-colored captain's armband.
