Marcus Helbig (born December 27, 1971 ) is a German handball referee . Together with Lars Geipel , he forms the A-team team Geipel / Helbig.

Helbig has been a referee since 1988 and has been whistling together with his team partner Lars Geipel since 1993. In 2001 both were accepted into the A-squad of the German Handball Federation and the EHF / IHF squad.

In 2011 they both whistled, among other things, the semi-final game of the men's handball world championship between Sweden and Croatia and the final in the DHB Cup .

On June 1, 2012 Helbig and his team partner were elected referee for the 2011/2012 season .

The team of referees was also nominated for the 2016 European handball championship in Poland at the beginning of 2016 and whistled various duels there in the preliminary and main round. In January 2017, both were also in action at the 2017 Handball World Cup in France.

The administrative clerk works at the Federal Employment Agency , lives in Landsberg (Saalekreis) and is single.
