The Hessentag 2014 was the 54th Hessentag and took place from June 6th to 15th, 2014 in Bensheim . After 1976 , the city ​​of Bensheim hosted the Hessian state festival for the second time. The motto of the Hessentag is “ wonderfully Hessian ”. A total of around 1.33 million visitors came to the events. With 110 hours of sunshine it was "the sunniest national festival of all time".

Since 1961, the Hessentage, initiated by the state government and carried out jointly with the respective municipality, has been taking place in different locations in Hesse . In the space of a good week, the country presents itself to visitors with cultural presentations and exhibitions. Large open-air concerts with the participation of well-known national and international artists also take place on the occasion of the Hessentage . The Hessian state festival is a nationally recognized and important major event that attracts many hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

After the application of the city of Bensheim to host the Hessentag, the then Prime Minister Roland Koch officially announced the award in favor of the largest city in the Bergstrasse district on the occasion of the Hessentag in Stadtallendorf .

New organizational subdivisions were made within the city administration in preparation for the Hessentag. Essentially, these are the three Hessentag officers and the Hessentag project groups, which are divided into specialist areas. The overall management of the preparation and implementation of the Hessentag lay with the city ​​council , the Hessentag committee, the magistrate and the mayor Thorsten Herrmann .

In August 2012, the Hessentag office was set up in the premises of the citizens' office in the city center as the central point of contact for questions and suggestions about the Hessentag in Bensheim.

The logo, slogan and poster were officially unveiled in May 2013 by Mayor Thorsten Herrmann and State Secretary Michael Bußer .

Anne Weihrich and Markus Glanzner formed the Hessentag couple . They were officially presented at the Night of Traditional Costume event in November 2012.

The Hessentag was officially accompanied by the local event radio Antenne Bergstrasse , which informed and entertained everything about the folk festival during the Hessentag.

The Hessentag took place in the entire urban area of ​​Bensheim. The events and exhibitions, which traditionally recur every year, were distributed as follows:

  • The Hessentagsstraße followed the course of the streets Taunusstraße, Schwanheimer Straße and Am Rinnentor.
  • The festival mile with state exhibition, marquee, exhibition Nature on the trail , Hessen-Palace, Hessischer Landespolizei , Bundespolizei , Bundeswehr and Evangelischer Kirche Hessen was located on the Berliner Ring.
  • The Hessentagsarena for open-air events was set up in the Stubenwald II industrial park.
  • The hr meeting was on Beauner Platz in the city center.
  • The wine village was on the market square.
