The Hessentag 2019 is the 59th Hessentag and took place from June 7th to 16th, 2019 in Bad Hersfeld .

Since 1961, the Hessentage, initiated by the state government and carried out jointly with the respective municipality, has been taking place in different locations in Hesse. Over a period of ten days, the country presents itself to visitors with cultural presentations and exhibitions. Large open-air concerts with the participation of well-known national and international artists also take place on the occasion of the Hessentage . The Hessian state festival is a nationally recognized and important major event that attracts many hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

The Hessentag 2019

The city of Bad Hersfeld expected 700,000 visitors. The event has a budget of 10.2 million euros, which is to be financed with revenues of 5.7 million euros, a grant from the city of 2.5 million and a state grant of 2 million. A total of 862,000 visitors were counted at the Hessentag, exceeding the city's expectations.

criticism

The parties not represented in the state parliament by elected representatives must pay stand fees for a stand at the Hessentag. The Pirate Party Germany , the Party for Labor, Rule of Law, Animal Welfare, Elite Promotion and grassroots initiative (Die PARTEI) and the Free Voters of Hesse criticized in a joint statement the general injustice in the possibility of presenting political parties at the Hessentag. While the parliamentary groups can also present themselves this year in Hall 1 of the state exhibition in Bad Hersfeld without paying stand fees, other political parties are not allowed to appear on Hessentagsstraße, or stand fees must be paid in other parts of the state exhibition get paid. The Left Hesse and the Hersfeld-Rotenburg peace initiative criticized the integration of the Bundeswehr in the Hessentag. As a result, an initiative for the Bundeswehr was founded on Facebook at the Hessentag.
