The Hessentag 2008 was the 48th Hessentag and took place from June 6th to 15th, 2008 in the district town of the Schwalm-Eder district of Homberg (Efze) . After 1974 ( Fritzlar ), 1987 ( Melsungen ) and 1995 ( Schwalmstadt ), the Schwalm-Eder district was the scene of the Hessentag for the fourth time. Prime Minister Roland Koch (CDU) opened the Hessentag together with his party friend and Mayor of Homberg, Martin Wagner. The Hessentag couple consisted of the couple Anja and Jörg Hassenpflug.

Since 1960, the Hessentage, initiated by the state government and carried out jointly with the respective municipality, has been taking place in different locations in Hesse . These are major events that attract national attention, have a budget of millions and each attract many hundreds of thousands of visitors.

According to the Hessian State Chancellery, a total of 810,000 guests were counted at the more than 900 events in Homberg.

As part of the Hessentag, the mayors of Homberg and Fresnes (Val-de-Marne) signed a document that sealed the partnership between the two cities. Herbert Grönemeyer , Die Ärzte , Jan Delay and Roger Cicero were among the many stars who made guest appearances in Homberg and created a good atmosphere . FranceFrance 

The German U-15 juniors played against the Polish U-15 juniors in the Homberg stadium . The game ended 1-1.

The Hessentag ended with a pageant almost two kilometers long.

The event's deficit, which the city had to bear, amounted to 3.4 million euros.
