Asociación Nacional de Afectados por las Adopciones Irregulares
The Spanish organization Asociación Nacional de Afectados por las Adopciones Irregulares ( National Association for Those Affected by Irregular Adoptions , ANADIR for short ) was founded on February 11, 2010 by Antonio Barroso . She campaigns for the rights of adopted children who were separated from their birth parents during the Franco dictatorship (1936 to 1975) and probably also in the first few years that followed. Many babies and children were systematically taken away from their parents, mostly viewed as critical of the regime or disliked, by state organs, brought to - often church - institutions and from there resold for sometimes large sums, often to childless couples close to the regime . The birth parents were often faked the death of the baby or child and informed that a funeral had already taken place. It is estimated that there are up to 300,000 kidnapping victims.
One of the goals of the association is
- the kidnapping victims to assist them to find their biological parents or siblings,
- to help them find their own identity and come to terms with the psychological consequences,
- to achieve a legal processing of the kidnappings.
ANADIR filed a first class action on behalf of 261 kidnap victims on January 27, 2011 with the Spanish General Prosecutor's Office ( Fiscalía General del Estado ) in Madrid.
