Andreas R. Batlogg

Andreas R. Batlogg SJ (* 1962 in Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian theologian, Jesuit and former editor-in-chief of Voices of the Time .

Life

Andreas Batlogg attended the Riedenburg elementary school in Bregenz. He studied philosophy and theology in Innsbruck . In September 1985 he entered the Jesuit order. In 1991 he was ordained a deacon in the Innsbruck Jesuit Church. He was ordained a priest on April 24, 1993 by the Vienna Auxiliary Bishop Christoph Schönborn in the Council Memorial Church in Hietzing. In 2000 he received his doctorate in theology in Innsbruck.

Since 2000 he has been a member of the editorial team of “ Voices of Time ” in Munich . In 2009 he took on the role of publisher and editor-in-chief, which he held until 2017.

Since 2005 he has also been active (as the successor to Karl H. Neufeld ) as co-editor of the “Complete Works” of Karl Rahner and since 2007 a member of the Karl Rahner Foundation in Munich (deputy chairman). From 2008 to 2015 he was Scientific Director of the Karl Rahner Archive in Munich. In 2010 he became a member of the editorial team of Karl Rahner's “Complete Works”. He was diagnosed with colon cancer on September 25, 2017. About his experiences with the disease, he published the book Crossed Through - My Life with the Diagnosis of Cancer in 2019 .
