The Hessentag 2016 is the 56th Hessentag and took place from May 20th to 29th, 2016 in Herborn . After 1986, the city of Herborn hosted the Hessian state festival for the second time. The motto of the Hessentag was "Life is so colorful". A total of 940,000 visitors came to Herborn. Well-known stars like the "Hollywood Vampires" ( Johnny Depp , Alice Cooper , Joe Perry ), Andreas Gabalier , Revolverheld , Rea Garvey , Deichkind , Sarah Connor , BAP , Status Quo or the Tigerpalast were among the highlights in the event program.

Since 1961, the Hessentage, initiated by the state government and carried out jointly with the respective municipality, has been taking place in different locations in Hesse . Over a period of ten days, the country presents itself to visitors with cultural presentations and exhibitions. Large open-air events with the participation of well-known national and international artists also take place on the occasion of the Hessentage . The Hessian state festival is a nationally recognized and important major event that attracts many hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

The city only received the official award for the organization in December 2014, so the planning time was very short.

Preparations for the Hessentag 2016

The opening event on the Herborn market square took place on May 20, 2016 with Prime Minister Volker Bouffier and musician Jördis Tielsch . It was moderated by entertainer Dirk Daniels. In preparation for the Hessentag, a total of seven project groups were set up within the city administration to deal with the various subject areas. They worked on the Hessentag representative Jörg Kring. The overall management of the preparation and implementation of the Hessentag lay with the Hessentag advisory board, the magistrate and mayor Hans Benner .

The Hessentag office in the city center was set up in July 2015 as the central point of contact for questions and suggestions about the Hessentag in Herborn.

Logo, slogan and poster were officially presented by Mayor Hans Benner and State Secretary Axel Wintermeyer in March 2015 .

The Hessentag couple are Janina Till and Cetin Celik. They were officially presented in the Herborn culture barn in April 2015.

Venues

The Hessentag took place in the entire city of Herborn. Events and exhibitions were distributed as follows: Hessentagsstraße led via Bahnhofstraße, Hintersand, Hauptstraße, Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and Walkmühlenweg to the Au. The marquee stood on the former riding arena (Walkmühlenweg), the current urban festival area. The state exhibition, the exhibition on the trail of nature, the armed forces and the children's area could be found in the meadows. The Sparkassen -Palace was set up on the premises of the Minufa company (Konrad-Adenauer-Straße). The state police set up their bistro at the Hintersand parking lot. Opposite was the PurPur Cathedral of the Evangelical Churches . The Hessentagsarena for open-air events was located in the Au. The hr meeting was on the shooting range (main street). The wine village was built in the city park (old cemetery). Other venues such as stages, tents and catering facilities could be found in the city center.
