Hessentag couple 2005

The Hessentag 2005 was the 45th Hessentag . The festival took place from June 17 to 26, 2005 in the former residential town of Weilburg an der Lahn in the Limburg-Weilburg district . Around 840,000 visitors were counted during the 10-day event.

The festival opened with the motto After Weilburg no way is too far, on Hessentag full of happiness! read, by Prime Minister Roland Koch (CDU) and Mayor Hans-Peter Schick. The Hessentag couple formed Kerstin Abel and Dirk Petersen.

In the run-up to the Hessentag u. a. the bypass of the B456, which has been planned for decades, as well as the associated Mühlberg tunnel was implemented and the old town of Weilburg was thus relieved of several thousand vehicles daily through traffic.

Performed artists included u. a. Peter Maffay , die Toten Hosen ( eat or die tour ), Duran Duran , the young tenors , the sons of Mannheim , Juli , Laith Al-Deen and Silbermond .

Special attention was paid to a ten meter long paper kite specially flown in from China at the final parade .

The deficit of this major event, which the city of Weilburg had to bear, amounted to around 2.0 million euros.
