The Hessentag 2013 was the 53rd Hessentag . It took place in Kassel from June 14 to June 23, 2013 and had a record number of 1,830,000 guests. Kassel hosted the Hessentag for the second time since 1964 . It took place at the same time as the city's 1100th birthday. Alexandra Berge and Tobias Krechel formed the Hessentag couple.

Choice of venue

Originally, Vellmar , neighboring town of Kassel, was awarded the contract to host the Hessentag in 2008. In the summer of 2011, however, Vellmar gave it back due to financial concerns. After the Vellmar withdrawal, several cities showed interest in the alignment. These included Korbach, Bad Wildungen and Kassel. In December 2011 Kassel was finally awarded the contract.

Associated with the Kassel award are financial subsidies of around € 5.5 million and low-interest loans of almost € 8 million.

On June 21, 2012, Mayor Bertram Hilgen and the head of the State Chancellery, Axel Wintermeyer , presented the logo of the Hessentag. The logo shows a silhouette of the Kassel sights and has the motto “ IN HESSEN. AT THE TOP. ".

The venues included the Auestadion and the Rothenbach-Halle , where Sunrise Avenue performed with the hr big band , 3 Doors Down , Stanfour , Susanne Blech , The Hollies , Suzi Quatro , Spider Murphy Gang as well as Mickie Krause and Jürgen Drews .
