The Hessentag 2009 was the 49th Hessentag . The festival took place from June 5 to 14, 2009 in the small town of Langenselbold and was the fourth venue to break the one million visitor mark. Also for the fourth time the festival of the Hessians, which offered around 1,000 program items, was celebrated in the Main-Kinzig district .

The Hessentag was opened, the slogan Langenselbold has a lot of momentum - the Hessenfest for old and young! read, by Prime Minister Roland Koch (CDU) and Mayor Jörg Muth (CDU). Julia Tanzer and Matthias Mücke formed the Hessentag couple.

In addition to the pageant, the program included a. a flight show with balloon glow , the brook dance in the Gründau-Aue, a traditional Langenselbold event, the exhibition on the trail of nature , a night pilgrimage from the Hessentagstadt 1996 Gelnhausen to Langenselbold, a Corpus Christi procession with the Fulda auxiliary bishop Karlheinz Diez and the U-15- International match between Germany and Poland. In addition, the Protestant Church and Germany's oldest Buddhist monastery, which is located in the city on the Gründau , invited to other events.

The event's deficit, which the city had to bear, amounted to 3.6 million euros.
