The young tenors
The Young Tenors were a vocal trio , ultimately consisting of the three tenors Hans Hitzeroth, Ilja Martin and Hubert Schmid .
Origin and musical impact
In 1997 the singers Bernhard Hirtreiter , Hans Hitzeroth and Thomas Kiessling were selected after an audition to record the title melody (Love is waiting) for the TV show Herzblatt . The moderation of the show had just changed from Rainhard Fendrich to the former opera singer Hera Lind . Originally only intended as a one-time studio trio, the idea of merging pop and classical music with classically trained voices was continued. The group was named Hearts and Roses . You took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with the song You are a part of me . During rehearsals, the trio was renamed The Three Young Tenors . After a comparison with the three tenors , the name had to be changed to The Young Tenors . In 2001 the trio sang the song of the ARD television lottery Ein Platz an der Sonne . In January 2003 Thomas Kiessling left the group and was supplemented by the tenor Hubert Schmid. In this formation the CDs Viva Italia , Sons of Amor and Happy Christmas were released . At the end of 2006, Bernhard Hirtreiter left the group and was replaced by the Berlin tenor Ilja Martin. The first CD of the new formation ( Love wins ) was released in May 2007. Further CDs followed in 2009 and 2012.
