Life

Jacques Grimaldi was born as the second child of Prince Albert II of Monaco from his marriage to Princess Charlène of Monaco on December 10, 2014 at 5:06 pm, two minutes after his twin sister Gabriella of Monaco . Due to the patrilineal primogeneity in force in Monaco , which places male heirs before women in the line of succession, he is heir to the throne.

Hereditary Prince Jacques of Monaco has two older half-siblings on his father's side who, due to their illegitimate birth, are not included in the succession to the throne of the Principality, because in 2002 their grandfather, Prince Rainier , himself the son of a legitimate illegitimate daughter of Prince Louis II of Monaco , changed the constitution that only children from one marriage can inherit.

According to the regulations of the Treaty of Péronne from 1641, the respective Hereditary Prince of Monaco bears the title of Marquis des Baux , which is a subordinate title of the Prince.

Jacques Grimaldi, like his sister Gabriella Grimaldi, was baptized on May 10, 2015. Her godparents are Princess Charléne's brother Gareth Wittstock and her friend Nerine Pienaar, Christopher Levine Jr., the son of Prince Albert's cousin Christopher Levine, and Diane de Polignac Nigra.
