- Ouagadougou / Burkina Faso : Colonel Isaac Zida , Vice-President of the Presidential Guard, emerged victorious from internal military power struggles for the provisional office of head of state and thus the leadership of a transitional government . Military chief Honoré Traoré , who appointed himself provisional head of state the day before and has little support from the population, accepts this in a declaration and waives his own claims. Meanwhile, the ousted President Blaise Compaoré flees to the neighboring country of Ivory Coast . Foreign politicians and members of the opposition criticize the coup and demand free elections.
- Weinheim / Germany : At the NPD federal party conference, the delegates elect the former Saarland chairman, Frank Franz, as their national chairman.

- Bucharest / Romania : None of the candidates achieved an absolute majority in the presidential elections . - Donetsk / Ukraine : Parliamentary and presidential elections are being held in the areas administered by pro-Russian separatists . International election observers are not permitted. Only the Russian Federation wants to recognize the election result.
- Fallujah / Iraq : Canada flies air strikes against the Islamist organization Islamic State (IS) for the first time . Starting from Kuwait , IS targets in the Fallujah region were bombed.
- Copenhagen / Denmark : The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC) presents the synthesis report for the fifth assessment report .
- Lahore / Pakistan : 60 people are killed in a suicide attack during the flag parade at the Pakistani- Indian border crossing at Wagah near Lahore in the Punjab province . Three militant groups are committed to the act.

- New York / United States : 13 years after the terrorist attacks , the first tenants are moving into the new One World Trade Center on Ground Zero , which at 541 meters is the tallest building in the United States.
- Sanaa / Yemen : In a terrorist attack, the pioneer of the technocratic government decided two days ago between Shiite Houthi rebels and Sunnis is killed in the capital. Another attack on the military in the port city of al-Hudaida kills 18 soldiers. Both attacks are seen as targeted attacks on the government agreement.

- Beijing / China : At the opening of the 22nd APEC -Gipfels in the Chinese capital, in which, among other things, the three largest economies in the world, the United States , Japan and the hosts are present, stimulates China's state and party leader Xi Jinping , the Creation of an Asia-Pacific Free Trade Area .

- Cairo / Egypt : At a summit, the Egyptian President as-Sisi , the Cypriot President Anastasiadis and the Greek Prime Minister Samaras announce closer cooperation in natural gas production in the Eastern Mediterranean . Also, Israel wants to join this cooperation. The production of natural gas off Cyprus is to begin in 2018 . There are difficulties in defining the economic zones in the sea area between Cyprus and Turkey .
- Vienna / Austria : At the 15th Nestroy Theater Prize , Nicole Heesters was honored as best actress and August Diehl as best actor.

- Madinat as-Sadis min Uktubar / Egypt : The CAF is withdrawing Morocco's host role for the 2015 African Cup of Nations and excluding the country from participating in this competition. Morocco has intended to postpone the competition to 2016 because of the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa , as it is feared that it will have catastrophic effects . The World Health Organization does not share this view. Possible new organizers are Angola , Nigeria and Gabon .
- Sukkur / Pakistan : 58 people are killed in a head-on collision between a coach and a heavy coal transporter in southern Pakistan.

- Dresden / Germany : Stanislaw Tillich is re-elected Prime Minister of Saxony . In his new cabinet , the CDU heads seven and the SPD three ministries.
- Beijing / China : At the 26th summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Community APEC, the participants adopt a “roadmap” for the creation of the free trade zone that has been targeted since 1989 .
- Beijing / China : US President Barack Obama calls for transparent and free elections in Hong Kong in bilateral talks with China's head of state and party leader Xi Jinping , thus reacting to the pro-democratic protests that have been going on for weeks in the Chinese special administrative region . China refuses to interfere in internal affairs and holds foreign forces jointly responsible for the demonstrations in Hong Kong. In a joint press conference, Barack Obama and Xi Jinping announce their climate protection goals.
- Space : As part of the Rosetta mission , the Philae probe laboratory is the first spacecraft to land on a comet , the 67P / Tschurjumow-Gerasimenko .

- Auckland / New Zealand : A short visit by Chancellor Angela Merkel to Prime Minister John Key in the New Zealand economic metropolis of Auckland serves to deepen the economic relations between the two countries.
- Baghdad / Iraq : After evaluating documents found in a raid, the Iraqi government announced that the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) had created state-like structures with administration and social benefits and was planning to issue its own currency. Meanwhile, the Iraqi army has recaptured the strategically important refinery city of Baiji from IS.
- Madinat as-Sadi min Uktubar / Egypt : The CAF is Equatorial Guinea as the new host of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations known. As the new host, the Equatorial Guinean team that was originally disqualified in the qualifying round can take part in the competition.
- Nouakchott / Mauritania : The Mauritanian government has the human rights activist and president of the anti-slavery movement there, Biram Dah Abeid, and nine other supporters arrested for inciting rioting, as they wanted to use an information campaign to educate the population in southern Mauritania about slavery and land grabbing. Slavery is officially abolished in Mauritania, but the reality is often different. Abeid has also founded a party and is challenging the authoritarian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz .

- Canberra / Australia : Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Chinese President Xi Jinping sign a far-reaching free trade agreement between their countries. This provides for trade facilitation, especially in the agricultural and service sectors, and Chinese import duties for coking coal are also eliminated. - Ouagadougou / Burkina Faso : A committee made up of representatives of the military as well as religious and political groups appoints the diplomat and former Burkinabe foreign minister Michel Kafando as the new interim president.
